Why Buy the Whole Market When You Can Buy the Market Leaders?
The investment goal of Market Leaders is to provide a core investment that is adaptive and flexible to ever-changing market conditions, adding returns with less risk than traditional fixed allocations, lifestyle or target date funds. Market Leaders seeks to do this by focusing on the seven basic asset classes that make up the core holdings for any equity portfolio: large-cap growth, large-cap value, mid-cap growth, mid-cap value, small-cap growth, small-cap value and internationals (there are 11 asset classes monitored in the new Direxion Evolution Market Leaders Fund).
Unlike a traditional fixed allocation or target date fund that owns all the asset classes, we implement a relative strength approach and rotate into the strongest four asset classes (leaders), while avoiding the three weakest asset classes (laggards).
Adding value starts by diversifying into the leading asset classes and avoiding those that drain performance. Then we strive to add more value by drilling deeper to seek out the leading mutual funds within each selected asset class.
Academic studies show that persistency in performance occurs. Leaders tend to continue to lead. Laggards often continue to lag. Academic Studies
